RLE Staff

    The Residence Life & Education Team is comprised of caring, talented, and energetic student and professional staff members who are committed to developing and supporting the population of nearly 2,300 students living in residence.

Staff Descriptions

    Community Leaders (CL)

    Community Leaders are student-staff members who act as the primary resource for students living in residence. CLs complete an extensive training program including sessions in peer helping, conflict mediation and resolution, crisis intervention, event planning, and more. CLs also work to explain, address, and report the Community Standards.

    Community Leaders organize and host programs and events throughout the year. The programs run by our CLs are a great way to connect with other students in your area, reduce your stress and learn something new! To learn more about the Community Leaders in your neighbourhood, click here.

    Senior Community Leaders (SCL)

    Senior Community Leaders are student-staff members who work to support the overall Residence Life and Education program through mentoring and coaching the CL team in all aspects of its role in collaboration with the professional staff. SCLs work to model and uphold the Community Standards as well as work to develop programs and educational opportunities for residents.     Residence Life Coordinators (RLC)

    Residence Life Coordinators are professional staff members who work to support the overall Residence Life and Education Program. The four RLCs are responsible for developing a positive and respectful living environment that promotes academic success, leadership and civic engagement, personal growth, and inclusion amongst all residents. The RLCs supervise Community Leaders and Senior Community Leaders as well as follow up on residence incidents and community issues. They also work on a variety of special projects designed to enhance the residence life experience.

    Coordinator, Residence Education (CRE)

    The Coordinator, Residence Education, is responsible for the development and delivery of key residence initiatives which enhance the educational experience for students living in residence. These include working to enhance and transform current themed and interested-based communities in residence, to develop and coordinate Living-Learning Communities, the development of an Academic Resources Centre in residence, and the introduction of Community Service Learning opportunities to provide transformational experiences for students living in residence.

    Coordinator, Student Development & Programming (CSDP)

    The Coordinator, Student Development and Programming (CSDP) is a professional staff member responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of a diverse range of programs, projects, and activities designed to assist residence students in their academic, personal, and interpersonal growth throughout the year. The CSDP is responsible for coordinating the residence-wide programs; training and advising professional staff in programming; and the direct supervisor of the Residence Program Leaders.

    Coordinator, Community Development and Student Leadership (CCDSL)

    The Coordinator, Community Development and Student Leadership (CCDSL) is responsible for the consistent, fair, and educational student conduct system within the residence community in addition to providing consultation and resources to the RLC team. This position is also responsible for the coordination and delivery of the annual Fall Training Program as well as ongoing paraprofessional development opportunities for student staff. Lastly, the CCDSL coordinates the assessment and evaluation of our RLE program.

    Residence Life & Education Receptionist

    The RLE Receptionist monitors our primary email account and phone line, greets students and staff as they enter the office, and connects with other Residence Services departments to best assist the RLE team. If you have RLE related questions or need to book an appointment, please contact our receptionist.

    Manager, Residence Life & Education

    The Manager, Residence Life and Education is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, management, and assessment of the Residence Life and Education program. The manager supervises the professional Residence Life and Education staff team, oversees the residence education curriculum, and manages the administration of a fair and educational residence judicial system. The manager ensures the development and maintenance of a Residence Life and Education program that supports healthy, safe, and academically focused residence communities.

    I'm a 5th year Geography student, 5th year in residences and 4th year working with Res Life.  I spend my summers frontline fighting forest fires and going boating in the Okanagon.  I love to play soccer and toss a disc too!  Looking forward to meeting all the new folks and hoping for another great year!

    Hey everyone!  My name is Valsy and I'm a third year business student from North Vancouver, BC.  While I enjoy getting lost on the occasional run, I also love theatre, drinking London Fogs and watching Netflix.  I'm looking forward to meeting all of you and having a great year in Cluster!

    Originally from Ontario, I am a bilingual science student. My hobbies include hiking, board games, badminton, cycling, video games, running and many more. I am excited to be meeting everyone and hope to learn more about you.

    My name is Clayton, and I'm from the not-so-far-away land of Coquitlam, BC. I'm in my second year at UVic with plans to pursue the field of high school education. I absolutely love Broadway and Jazz music, and have been part of a few indie-bands throughout the course of my shortlife.     Hey! I am Colin Federici. I grew up in Mission, British Columbia. Now, I am studying to be an Engineer and am currently in my second year. I spent my first year in Cluster and had a great time! My favourite part of UVic is the 10:30 Cap's pizza runs with friends. I can't wait 'til next year!

    I am from Calgary, Alberta. I have 3 sisters; 2 older and one younger. I am going into my second year at UVic. I love hiking and swimming and just getting outside. I am an avid animal lover.

    I am a second year Business student here at UVic. You can usually find me studying, relaxing with my friends, or getting outside whenever the weather allows. This summer I plan to do some travelling and adventuring as well as working full time. I'm from Seattle so I love the NFL and college sports, go Seahawks! I can't wait to meet you all this year.

    If I'm not drinking coffee or eating watermelon you can usually find me taking naps or jamming to my girl Miley. Really though, I'll be going in to my fourth year completing a double major in English and Environmental Studies. A few of my fave things are acting, ballet, and running. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in September!

    I'm a 3rd year History Major and am really looking forward to my second year as a CL. Last year was great and I hope that the next will be even better!

    Hello! My name is Kyell (pronounced KayĖyell). This will be my second year as a C.L and Iím really excited to be coming back in this role! Iím originally from Campbell River, which is about 3 hours north of VictoriaĖ itís a beautiful place, has everything you need. Iím studying French and will be a teacher in the end.     My name is Kaitly Suzuki. I'm about to start my second year of eingineering here at UVic. I am from a small citiy in the interior of BC called Merritt, most well-know as a pit stop for people driving through. I enjoy spending my free time playing sports, especially soccer and volleyball, drawing, painting and watching amazingly terrible movies. Sharknado is a personal favourite.

    Hi gang!  My name's Kelly.  I am the Senior Community Leader for Tower and South Tower.  I was raised in a small Okanagan, BC town and have travelled, worked, studied and volunteered in Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East.  I'm a 4th year student in Biology and Environmental Studies as well as pursuing a diploma in Restoration of Natural Systems.  I'm interested in most sports (including ping-pong), BICYCLES!, yoga and meditation, making music, dancing, nature, discussing, community living, pondering, painting, writing, learning... really most things as long as they are inclusive, positive and/or truthful/helpful.  I'm really looking forward to meeting, sharing and learning together through this coming year with all of you.

This fall I'll be launching into my second action-packed year of Sciences (Bio) at UVic. I hope you guys have an awesome summer, if only to prepare you for the even AWESOMER year we're gonna have here at UVic! See you in September!

    Hey there! I am a third year student studying business right here at UVic! My passion lies in marketing; I love the idea of coming up with creative ways to capture an audience's attention. I am also a social media junkie, film addict and an unprofessional random dancer. I love to read and write and that is probably what I'll be doing during my speare time in the summer! I'll be spening my summer in Vancouver but cannot wait to return to UVic for another AMAZING year. I look forward to meeting y'all and to growing together as leaders of the world (cheesy, I know).

    My name is Derek Turkington and I am a Masters student in Dispute Resolution. I am originally from Peachland, BC. This summer I am in Quebec for five weeks learning French and will spend a month in Tofino surfing. I am so excited to meet our new residents and welcome them into our community!

    Hello! I'm a fourth year visual arts student from Maple Ridge, BC. In the summer, I'm a staff member/camp counsellor at the YES teaching important leadership skills to youth ages 14-18. I'm super excited to be a RECL in the Arts Community and I'm looking forward to meeting all those gutsy enough to pursue the wonderful, but challenging world of fine arts! <3

    Hello! My name is Travis and I am a RECL in the Health and Wellness Community. I am an Exercise, Sciences Physical and Health Education Major with a minor in Geography in my second year.
